Recently, I attended an event about Kraft Tiger Energy Biscuit. It is timely because school days are about to start and moms like me do worries what my kids will eat at school. It was a great that Kraft created this event to raise awareness about having good nutrition for the kids.
The event was called "Bulong Pulungan sa Sofitel", as I have mentioned before this event was initiated by Kraft to introduce the Tiger Energy Biscuit and about the nutrition needed by kids, especially those kids who are already going to school.
A qualitative research commissioned by Kraft Foods Philippines shows that moms only give importance to the 3 main meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner while snacks are left behind; leaving their children to choose whatever it is they want to snack on. But, what moms should know is that snacking is just as important as the regular meals they give throughout the day.
It is indeed true that most Moms do neglect the importance of snack time but for me I make sure that my kids will have their snacks aside from the 3 main meals. They need that energy to go during the day, especially for my kid who's really very active and having biscuits for snacks can sure add up and replenish that burned energy.
According to the 7th National Nutrition Survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI – DOST), only 21.5 percent meet or almost 4 out of 5 Filipino kids ages 6-12 do not meet their daily energy needs. According to the survey, undernutrition is a concern that, if not addressed, could lead to a weak immune system, poor growth and development and various micronutrient deficiencies. In addition, undernutrition can lead to poor school performance of kids. Therefore, it is important that we provide our children with healthy and nutritious food not only to help boost their energy throughout the day but to help them achieve their aspirations in the future.
The quantitative research commissioned by Kraft Foods Philippines shows that biscuit is the most consumed snack item among kids aged 6-12. That’s why moms should always make sure that the biscuits they serve to their kids are delicious and nutritious.
During the event, different personalities like Julie Yap Daza and Charito Planas were there talking and sharing their insights about the present condition of Pinoy kids and their nutrition and what they could do about it.
My son, Maki loves this Tiger Energy Biscuits and I for one as a Mom will help fight poor nutrition and poor school performance in the country by making sure that he'll be healthy, active and strong!
