Thank goodness I had the presence of mind to pack a pillowcase before I left Chicago! I tossed a vintage green/white pillow case with butterflies into my suitcase, along with my pincushion, measuring tape, scissors, and some white bias tape. I did not know what I was going to make, but I thought this would be a good starting point.
Since I do not have my sewing machine with me, this project was going to be a little on the simpler side. I really didn't want to spend the whole vacay hand sewing, but it really makes for a relaxing time in the sun. Ocean breezes, sunshine, and some uber relaxing hand sewing - this is vacation to me.
I cut a boat neck line and two holes for the arms...added some bias trim...created a new hemline...and voila!
It slips right over my head to offer some excellent coverage on the beach. I love that it coordinates so well with my green swimsuit.
I am stretching because wearing a swimsuit makes you want to elongate your body so nothing looks squished together. Fact.
Up close picture of the bias trim neckline...I love the white detail. I think I may actually wear this as a top once I get the sand rinsed out of it. Sometimes I hate the beach because sand gets everywhere. I love exfoliating, but there comes a time when you have nothing left to exfoliate and the ocean is painful... and then you begin to question if that is new skin you see or a sunburn.
I am full of hot air. No joke. This took me five minutes.
Feet in the cold, cold ocean. Ninety degrees out and the ocean feels like fifty.
The Rob and I made a sand castle. We now have a baby kingdom and found some unwilling serfs...
like this little dude. Oh, hai! (We put him back in the ocean but he kept coming back to our castle because our moat was completely awesome)
I don't know if this makes me seem stranger or not, but being in the sun makes me incredibly sleepy. I have napped everyday that we've been here. It has been GLORIOUS.
My "I'm clean but the sand is collecting in the bottom of the shower" picture for Day 8...
I am wearing the first dress I ever made :)
Have a fantastic day, ya'll!
