No trip to Ottawa would be complete without a visit to the National Gallery of Canada which was built in 1988 by the famous Canadian architect, Moshe Safdie. The amazing light and panoramic views are enough reason to visit, let alone the interesting and large collection of national and international art that is contained in the gallery.
The most enjoyable part of the exhibit for me was getting a glimpse of her creative process in collecting ideas and inspiration for her work. Numerous journals, and hundreds of post-it notes on display showed her ability and drive to jot down or draw ideas and images that would come to mind. It was inspiring, really. Something that I would like to do more of in my creative process, as well.
Any idea how this beautiful piece of landscape art was created?
You're right! By the shadows created by melting snow on the skylights. (Very artsy observation,
Paul!)
Angie was inspired by this Guido Reni painting...
Paul and I stand next to a poster of my favourite William Brymner painting..
Then it was off to share a delicious meal at a vegetarian restaurant called The Table with Paul and his friend Jane. We've really enjoyed getting to know Jane and are so happy that she and Paul can experience life and good times together!
A beautiful sunset over the Ottawa river ends the day perfectly!
As we got ready to head home on Wednesday, we saw the most unusual sight in the rearview mirror! Wow! I guess you can train a dog to do anything these days!
Hope he knows his way home!
